WILLIAM “Bill” BLAKE, 82, passed away suddenly Monday, October 18, 2010, in Gilroy.
Preceded in death by his parents, James and Adelaide Blake, his brothers Joe and Norman “Casey” Blake and his former wife, Joyce McCandless. Survived by his sister Bette Scarper (Lee) of Gilroy, Mary Jane Green of Gilroy; sister-in-law of Deloris Blake; nieces; sister Bobbi Green, Nancy Scarper, Kelly Blake, Tamara Blake, Jeanette Erb, Karen Kruger, Catherine Lewis and the late Patricia Blomgren; nephews Jim Blake, Jim Scarper and Steve Scarper. Step-father of Kirk, Mark and Scott McCandless. Also survived by grandnieces, grandnephews and step-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Gilroy. Graduated from St. Mary School and Gilroy High School. Army Veteran of World War II. Worked as a butcher for Nob Hill Foods for 32 years. Member of St. Mary’s Church, Life-member and past commander of Post 669, Life-member of the VFW, and member of Gilroy Elks and the SIRS.
Vigil Sunday, October 24, 2010 – 4:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Monday, October 25, 2010 – 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, Gilroy.
