Kunimura Youth Sports Coach of the Year Award.

Glenn Vonderworth, coach of the City of Gilroy Youth Basketball League’s Lady Celtics, has been named the winner of the Mason Kunimura Youth Sports Coach of the Year Award. Vonderworth will be presented with the award for his work with the 7th and 8th grade girls’ team in late November at the start of the first youth basketball game of the season.
“He was a complete joy to work with,” said City of Gilroy recreation coordinator Lisa Goncalo. “He has an amazing attitude toward basketball and the girls really enjoyed playing for him.”
The Gilroy Community Services Department gives out the award annually to the youth basketball coach who best exemplefies the spirit of Mason Kunimura, who coached the sport in the community and died in 2000.
Quarterback Club meeting
The Gilroy High School Quarterback Club will have its next meeting on Monday, June 13 at 7pm in room CE-22 at Gilroy High. The Quarterback Club is a support group for all GHS football players, regardless of playing position. The club encourages all parents and guardians of football players to attend.
