victories last week. Solis Winery Bandits Sunbirds and Dr. Tommy
Tong Thunder play to 12-12 tie.
GILROY – The Earthbound Farm Heat are off to a 2-0 start in the girls softball Major division of Gilroy Little League after victories last week.
The Heat defeated Br. Bas Wafelbakker, DDS Riptide 10-3 on Thursday and followed that up with a 10-1 win over the Dr. Gallagher Orthodontics Thunder on Saturday.
Patti Soria had two hits for the heat, and Alli Hathaway and Lauren Castro had a double apiece as the heat produced nine hits in the game. Kailey Eddy scored twice for Riptide.
Soria set the example on Saturday with another two hits and Morgan England and Maddie Cox followed suit with two of their own.
Castro had a triple and both Brook Loesch and Lucero Gonzalez has a hit each.
The Heat next take the field against the Tommy Tong Orthodontics Bandits on Thursday.
GIRLS MINORS
In the Minors division, the Solis Winery Sunbirds and Dr. Tommy Tong Thunder played to a thrilling 12-12 tie Saturday. The two teams’ efforts lasted until the contest was called due to the time limit.
Kaelyn Jackson of the Sunbirds tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning with an RBI-single. Julia Vanni and Jaci Granados both went a perfect 3 for 3 at the dish for the Sunbirds, who had 14 hits in the game.
Madison Mitchell pitched two inning for the Thunder and also went 1 for 2 with a walk and run scored.
The Sunbirds play later today against the Heat while the Thunder take on the Bandits on Wednesday. All midweek games begin at 5:30 p.m.
