Small explosion shocks Live Oak
Morgan Hill – Parents of middle school students taking summer school classes at Live Oak High were startled Tuesday to see fire trucks on the campus as they arrived to pick up their students at 12:30pm.
The Santa Clara County Fire Department responded to a call reporting an apparent explosion, which turned out to be an electrical problem. Circuit breakers on a pole across from the campus shorted out, creating a loud noise, and smoke was seen coming from an underground electrical vault in the staff parking lot. There were no injuries or property damage, and students and staff were not evacuated. The problem did cause a power outage in part of the school that mostly affected summer sports programs. PG&E is investigating the incident.
