GILROY – Tri County Athletic league play gets underway for three GHS teams starting Wednesday.
With an 8-4 preseason record, the Lady Mustangs basketball team battles the Trojans of Alisal (5-7) at home Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Mustangs are coming off of a second-place showing at the 11th annual Seaside Sweet 16 Holiday Tournament last week.
Wednesday’s game is the first of back-to-back home games to start league. Salinas (5-6) rolls into town Thursday night.
The boys basketball team posted a 9-3 preseason mark and soared to three second-place tournament finishes in the first month of action. The Mustangs host Alisal (8-4) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. They will then head down the 101 to take on Salinas (9-2) on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
After starting a difficult non-league schedule with an 0-4-2 record, the GHS girls soccer team finished off the preseason winning two straight games. The Mustangs travel to North Salinas (4-3-1) on Thursday.
Tonight’s dual meet between Gilroy and Alvarez, scheduled for a 6 p.m. start has bee cancelled.
