Artist Pamala Meador is defined by art and culture.
“I am always thinking, creating, looking at things differently and traveling the road not taken,” she said. “I remember learning my alphabet so that I could have piano lessons, reading music before I could read.”
Having grown up without much, family outings were to museums, art galleries, missions and historical points
of interest.
“Reading, drawing and painting was how I passed the time, since the television was not turned on until after dinner, and then only to the news,” Meador said.
She was involved in theater during high school and studied art history in college, receiving a degree in sculpture.
After college she found herself selling modern masters for a fine art gallery, which lead to selling what Meador considered the art of her generation: animation art.
While selling real estate in Morgan Hill, she took a soft pastel class.
“The rest they say is history,” Meador said. “I have continued my studies with workshops, honing my drawing, composition and color skills. Each piece teaches me something; each workshop challenges me in different ways. Each opportunity makes me better and each image has its own story.”
