The Gilroy Dispatch Student of the Week for April 24 is Gilroy High's Tim Van Horn.

What inspires you? My family and friends inspire me.
What is your favorite subject in school and why? My favorite subject is Science, primarily Biology and Biotechnology because it is interesting how it can be applied to everyday uses.
A current issue you are concerned about, fascinated with or interested in: I am interested in Biofuels because I am currently doing a project where I am creating oils from different algaes to see which has the highest yield and would be best for turning into biodiesel fuels.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go? I would go to Australia because I enjoy exploring the outdoors and feel like it would be a fun adventure.
Name one big challenge in your life right now: AP calculus is the biggest challenge in my life right now.
What is your dream job? My dream job would be something related to biology, such as working in a biotechnology lab or in a hospital.
What are your three favorite things? My three favorite things would be high jump, bikes, and my phone.
Favorite book: My favorite books would be the Maze Runner series.
What do you want to do after high school? I plan to attend a four year university and participate in collegiate track and field.
Something that makes you smile: My Girlfriend.
