GILROY—HD Auto Glass held off Recology 12-10 to improve to 3-0 in the Men’s Fall Softball League standings at Las Animas Veterans Park Sept. 1.
Joel Torres drove in six Glass runs with a home run and two singles in the showdown of unbeaten clubs. Mike Ratcliff collected three hits and scored three runs for the winners. Andrew Mokres provided three hits and scored four runs for Recology (2-1).
Trevino Brothers Construction rolled to an 11-2 lead and held on to edge VFW Bingo 18-17. The Builders used four hits by Ryan Tapia, including a solo homer in the top of the seventh for the deciding run. Jesse Barajas completed a three-hit night for Bingo with a two-run homer in the seventh as Bingo pushed across eight runs. Jesus Diaz and Ralph Villalobos each homered for VFW Bingo.
Feather Haven turned back Baker Pump 17-11 home runs from Aaron Parker and Nelson Villanueva. Chad Badger and Egan Balash each powered two home runs for Baker Pump.
WOMEN’S
Antoinette Bowe garnered four hits and Eryka Temores played five runs with a pair of triples as Dirty Dozen opened the Women’s Wednesday Fall League season with a 19-8 victory over the Loca Girls.
Anita Garza went 2 for 2 and scored two Loca Girls runs. Evelyn Martinez added a two-run triple.
Pops’ Gals came up with a 16-1 victory over spring champion Unladylike. Tony Montoya belted two home runs and a triple, Maureen Hughes a homer, double and single for the winners. Nikki Dequin went 2 for 2 and scored the Unladylike run on Breanna Vasquez double.
Co-Rec
Sarah Miller stroked two singles and scored three runs as Anritsu opened the Co-Rec Fall Monday League season with a 14-7 victory over Drew’s Fault at Las Animas on Aug. 31.
Tommy Muth hit a three-run home run and Toni Montoya drove in three runs for Anritsu. Abel Gutierrez homered and Andrew Mokres claimed three hits for Drew’s Fault.
Kathy Bennett collected four hits and Joe Tovar provided a triple and two singles as the Warriors topped the Team Next Door 16-5. Troy Trede keyed the Next Door club with a double and single, scoring twice.
Thursday Men’s
ACT reached 3-0 with an 18-17 decision over Claddagh Thursday at Las Animas.
Danny Hinojosa drove in six runs for ACT with three singles. Aaron Burciaga spiced a three-hit showing with a two-run homer for the winners. Mike Keith went 3 for 3 and Dave Meacham scored three runs for Claddagh.
Ninja Sushi also moved to 3-0 with a 19-9 win over Claddagh. Rico Rascon went 5 for 5 and Gabe Duenas hit a two-run homer for Ninja Sushi. Kevin Belanger hit two doubles and a single for Claddagh.
Chris Del Real hit two home runs as Roger’s 22 Crew defeated the Fumigators 19-4. Derek Orca and Alonzo Felix each went 2 for 2 for the Fumigators.
