The Christopher girls golf team recorded its first win of the season, beating North Monterey County 298-312 Wednesday at home. 
The Cougars’ Mia Navarro was the match medalist and carded a personal best of  44. Junior Zoe Benn finished with a 71, but scored her first par on Hole 17. 
Nina Velez scored a 52 for Christopher, while Frankie Vanni notched a 60. Madisen Rueles rounded things out for the home squad with a 71. 
Christopher (1-3) will host Santa Catalina at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
FIELD HOCKEY
Cougars top North Salinas
The Christopher field hockey team opened league play with a 1-0 win over North Salinas on the road Wednesday.
Maya Loza scored the game’s lone goal. The Cougar found the back of the net midway through the second half to seal the victory.
The Cougars (3-1 overall, 1-0 in league) will be back in action at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Monterey.
