Behind bars for MDA
Gilroy – Three city officials will be locked up behind bars on Wednesday in an effort to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Charged with being caring and good-natured, Fire Chief Dale Foster, Community Development Director Wendie Rooney and City Clerk Rhonda Pellin will be “arrested” by Gilroy police and taken to “jail” at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar, 8200 Arroyo Circle.
They will be held until they can post bail – set at $1,800 each – with the help of donations from the community.
The money will help fund MDA clinics, support groups and summer camps in the South Bay. Most importantly, raising bail contributes to the vital funds necessary for research so that MDA can find treatment and cures for more than 40 neuromuscular diseases.
To help free the jailbirds, go to Applebee’s on Wednesday or contact the fire department’s education office at 846-0372; Rooney at 846-0208; or Pellin at 846-0204.
