In response to The Dispatch’s editorial on Feb. 4, 2004 “Mission Statement for GUSD a wonderful idea”, I would like to make my mission statement contribution and encourage others parents to do likewise:
The mission of the GUSD is to educate all students to the level of proficiency expected from their grade level in the following subjects:
• Reading
• Writing
• Mathematics
• Science
• Physical fitness
That’s it! Skip the Palo Alto platitudes. Let’s encourage the GUSD to concentrate on equipping our children with the tools necessary for success in any endeavor.
