series for the 2004/ 2005 season.
GILROY – The South Valley Symphony announced their upcoming concert series for the 2004/ 2005 season.
• Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m., at the Gavilan College Theatre. Opening night will include ”March Militaire” by Schubert; ”The Moldau” by Smetana and ”The Lark Ascending” by Vaughn Williams. Also, the Rachmanioff Piano Concerto Number 2 with Maria Amirkhanian, soloist.
• On Dec. 18, beginning at 4 p.m., at the Gavilan College Theatre, the concert will feature ”Finlandia” by Sibelius; ”Carmen Fantasy” for flute and orchestra, Donne Wilson soloist; and ”Messiah” choruses and solos featuring Phil Robb and choirs in a Christmas Carol sing-along.
• On Feb. 12, the “Family Concert” at the Gavilan College Theatre will feature three young soloists to be announced at a later date. Also included will be Suzuki violinists playing excerpts from ”Sleeping Beauty” by Tchaikovsky and featuring dancers from the Morgan Hill School of Dance.
• On March 5, starting at 7:30 p.m., Mariachi Santa Cecelia will be performing in concert as an ensemble in various selections of Mexican composers, at Saint Mary’s Church.
• On April 9, the 7:30 p.m., at a venue to be announced later, the program will consist of Concert Waltz No. 1 by Glazunov; Violin Concerto in D minor and Symphony No. 4. (The Tragic by Schubert.)
• Finally, on May 21, the 7:30 p.m. performance will be at Gavilan College Theatre and will feature ”Light Cavalry Overture” by Suppe; Adagio for strings and organ by Albinoni; Clarinet Concerto by Artie Shaw with Fr. Jon Pedigo, soloist; and various Broadway musical stage show selections.
