Teen-ager makes appearance in

Huevos 6: Dirt Rider

MORGAN HILL – Morgan Hill’s Taylor Moles has all the moves, including a few never seen before.

The 17-year-old quad racing prodigy has impressed his peers so much in the extreme sport that he has been featured in two freestyle videos, including the recently released “Huevos 6: Dirt Riot” by Wes Miller.

Moles, who turned pro at the tender age of 15, earned a reputation for his extreme moves while competing in the Quad Wars, which features teams of quad racers vying for the top spot at monster truck rallies. Moles, who has competed in about 50 such events, also shows off his quad skills in freestyle exhibitions.

It was while Moles was competing against men considerably older than he that quad racing legend Nicholas Granlund noticed the teen’s talent as an up-and-coming star in the sport. Moles was invited to go see a video being shot in Las Vegas and the rest is history.

“I think this is pretty much a door opening for me,” Moles said.

Not that the Monte Vista Christian High senior, who attended Britton Middle School, doesn’t have other plans for his future.

In fact, Moles said his long-range plans after high school graduation include earning his college degree at San Jose State, although he hasn’t decided what he wants to study yet.

According to Moles, getting a college degree was part of the deal he made with his parents – Kevin and Tesha – to allow him to race quads.

“My parents have supported me 110 percent,” Moles said. “I couldn’t do what I do without the support of my parents.”

Besides, Moles is well aware of the dangers of his extreme sport, which includes high-flying jumps and twisting, flipping, gravity-defying moves.

In fact, Moles admits to having suffered concussions, broken his fingers and collarbones, and burned through the nerves in his feet.

It’s all worth it, he says.

“There’s definitely an aspect of danger but the good times outweigh the bad,” he said.

Indeed, Moles shot to the top of the quad racing world, earning a Top 10 ranking in points last year and taking second place overall at one big event.

And, he has competed at venues such as the HP Pavilion and SBC Park this year.

But it is the world of freestyle that has caught his attention these days and starring in videos is the icing on the cake.

Moles has signed a deal with HBomb Films, which produced the video, and as the youngest member of the “Bomb Squad” he will be sponsored at 25 shows this year, along with personal appearances.

And, Moles is already set to star in his next quad racing video later this year – in Hawaii.

“Huevos 6: Dirt Riot,” produced by HBomb Films, is available at area dirt bike shops or online at hbombfilms.com
