Dear Editor,

Where were the parents? This is NOT a tragedy but a very sad and unfortunate result of lack of parental supervision of minors that had no business out at 10:30 at night. This is happening all too often, not just in Hollister but all over the USA.

Parents need to take charge and control over their children. I believe it is very important to supervise children in the teenage years. Know where they are and what they are doing. Keep them occupied constructively so they do not self destruct. Most do not think beyond the moment and can not predict the consequences of their action …13-year-olds out that late on a school night? Unsupervised in another child’s home? Give me a break.

I am very sorry these young lives were lost and the families are left with this grief. I see this as a stupid act that could have been avoided with a little more hands on supervision.

This preceded by the accident several months ago should be a wake-up call to all parents.
