Latin funk band Suavé
Saturday, Oct. 9, 11am-4.30pm
Latin funk band Suavé will be appearing Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Krazy Koyote Bar & Grill along with legendary jazz musicians Pete and Juan Escovedo.
The San Francisco-based group thrives on bringing the smooth sounds of the 1970s back to life with a blend of Latin pop, R&B and salsa rhythms. The band is made up of professional musicians who have spent their careers backing acts like The E Family, Pete Escovedo, Sapo, Tower of Power, Malo and The Drifters in recording sessions and live performances.
Jorge Santana, who has employed Suavé as a backup band, calls them “one of the best bands currently on the Bay Area Music scene.” The band’s debut single, a sexy slow jam called “Do U Remember Me?” was released in September 2003 on the Broadjam.com music review Web site. It stayed at number one on their list in more than 100 countries for nine consecutive days. The track will anchor Suavé’s debut EP, “Walk Away,” which is currently in pre-production with co-leaders Zach and Jerry Navarro, Jr. finishing up the song-writing.
The show at the Krazy Koyote, 8337 Church St., Gilroy, starts at 9pm with host Tony Sandoval from 98.1 KISS FM. This is strictly a 21 and over event. Call (408) 848-1112 for more information.
