Dear Editor,

Regarding the shortage of funds for a new South County Courthouse, what about the multi-million dollar settlement that the county received from the architect, general contractor and subcontractors of the now-closed San Martin courthouse?

What did county government leaders do with those taxpayers’ dollars?

If justice runs its course at the presently-existing buildings, why do taxpayers have to build a new courthouse east of the bullet train’s and UP’s tracks. Who will redress this injustice? Does anyone in government give a damn about the debt burdens we’re casting upon our children?

By the way, I believe the courthouse was needed more in Gilroy. It could have done a lot more to help downtown Gilroy revitalize than downtown Morgan Hill, whose residents are much closer to the San Jose courthouse (and to Los Gatos Small Claims Court).
