SAN MARTIN – Sheriff’s detectives are asking citizens to help them find a suspect in several Morgan Hill thefts from vehicles.

The man was caught on video trying to return some of the stolen items at the Valley Fair Shopping Center in San Jose. He is white with brown hair and a mustache, is about 6 feet tall and is believed to be about 40 years old.

Detectives say the suspect lives in the South Valley area, possibly Morgan Hill, Gilroy or Hollister. They say he may drive a blue-gray, 1990 sedan, possibly a Ford Taurus or similar.

The auto burglaries and thefts occurred a month ago, on the night of Feb. 3 and 4, in the area of Hidden Springs Lane and Spring Valley Road in the city of Morgan Hill. Detective Sgt. Doug Stevens did not say what was stolen but said the items were worth about $2,000.

Detectives believe there may be more than one perpetrator.

Stevens encourages anyone with information about this or other suspects to call him at 686-3664. Callers can leave an anonymous message, he said, and all information will remain confidential.
