member of her church and community who worked tirelessly in support
of the developmentally disabled.
Isabel Cadei, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004. She was a committed member of her church and community who worked tirelessly in support of the developmentally disabled.

She was born and raised in Hollister, married in 1942 and relocated to Gilroy with her husband Raymond Cadei at the end of World War II.

She was a founding member of the Association for the Developmentally Disabled and was instrumental in bringing many programs for the disabled to Gilroy, including the recently opened Villa Esperanza apartment complex, designed to accommodate the developmentally disabled.

She also was an active member of Women in Touch, Italian Catholic Federation and the Catholic Ladies Aide Society. She and her husband worked at the Gilroy Garlic Festival for 23 years. She volunteered with the Red Cross Blood Bank and the Special Olympics.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond P. Cadei of Gilroy; children, Raymond M. Cadei and his wife Toni Moore of Sacramento, Diane Cadei of Salinas, Lydia Cadei of Gilroy, Cecilia Cadei Mitchell and her husband Steven Mitchell of Eagle, Idaho and Kay Cadei Newby and her husband J. Clark Newby of Redwood City; grandchildren, Emily Cadei of Washington D.C., Carolyn Cadei of Pontlevoy, France, Mathew Mitchell of Eagle, Idaho, and Grace and Sam Newby both of Redwood City; sister, Marsha Jolley of San Jose; and numerous nieces, nephews and many relatives in Spain.

She was preceded in death by her parents Isadora and Caetano Garcia, and her sister Mary Hall.

A visitation will begin at noon, Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. A vigil will begin at 4pm.

Funeral services begin at 9:30am, Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at the funeral home, then proceed to St. Mary’s Church for Mass at 10am. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
