Democrat Mike Honda led District 15 with 71 percent, Democrat
Zoe Lofgren led District 16 with 71 percent, Democrat Sam Farr led
District 17 with 65 percent and, in the closest area congressional
district race, Republican Richard Pombo led District 11 with 52
percent

Democrat Mike Honda led District 15 with 71 percent, Democrat Zoe Lofgren led District 16 with 71 percent, Democrat Sam Farr led District 17 with 65 percent and, in the closest area congressional district race, Republican Richard Pombo led District 11 with 52 percent.
Honda ran against Republican and aerospace engineer Raymond L. Chukwu, who had 29 percent of the vote. Honda would be serving his third term. District 15 lies entirely within Santa Clara County and covers a large part of Silicon Valley, including Gilroy and several other South Bay cities.
Lofgren ran against Republican Douglas McNea, who had 27 percent of the vote. Libertarian Markus Welch had 2 percent of the vote. District 16 covers just north of San Jose to just south of San Martin. It covers San Martin but not Morgan Hill.
Farr ran against Republican Mark Risley, who had 32 percent of the vote. Green party candidate Ray Glock-Grueneich had 1 percent, and Peace and Freedom candidate Joe Williams also had 1 percent. District 17 covers the city of Santa Cruz in the north through Monterey County to the south, including Hollister, Salinas and Watsonville.
Pombo ran against Jerry McNerney, who had 45 percent of the vote. District 11 covers parts of Alameda, Contra Costa and Santa Clara counties, including Gilroy, Morgan Hill and San Martin.
