Louis P. Masoni died as result of a vehicle accident Thursday,
Nov., 4, 2004, in Gilroy.
He was 80.

He was 80.

Mr. Masoni was born and raised in Gilroy and graduated from Gilroy High School. He was an Army Air Corp. Veteran of World War II, who after his service, moved back to Gilroy and married his wife. They had met when they were 14 and were married 57 years.

Mr. Mason farmed with his parents and brothers. They grew prunes, walnuts, grapes and row crops in the Gilroy area until he retired in 1991.

He was a member of Sunsweet Growers, Farm Bureau of Santa Clara County and St. Mary’s Church.

He enjoyed both freshwater and deep sea fishing and also collected antiques, specializing in cigarette lighters.

He is the husband of Virginia Masoni of Gilroy; the son of the late Salvatore and Clorinda Mason; the father of Frank Masoni and his wife Rosemary of Hollister, and Louis Masoni Jr. of Gilroy and Mark Masoni and his wife Lisa of Morgan Hill; step-grandfather of Adrian and Vanessa Villegas of Hollister; the brother of Salvatore Masoni and Richard Masoni both of Gilroy and the late Frank Masoni; the brother-in-law of Alice Edwards of Grants Pass, Ore., and Bernice Butler of San Jose. He also is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will begin at 1pm, Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.

A vigil will be held at 7pm, Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin at 11am, Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at the funeral home, then proceed to St. Mary’s Church for a Mass celebration at 11:30am. Burial will immediately follow.

Family would appreciate donations to the Lord’s Table in Gilroy.
