DEAR EDITOR:

I applaud Councilman Russ Valiquette’s “opinion.”

He explained that, there were no cuts to jobs etc. due to the building of the new police facility and that the money earmarked, (sounds like a cattleman thing), via building impact fees “would cover the project.” He is correct in saying that “law” does not allow to move money from one project etc. to another.

Unfortunately, that proves the city administrators have not been able to manage the money that is available to the city in a more efficient manner. The money that was available should have been predicted and been more evenly distributed between emergency services etc. in order to maintain the city.

All government agencies mismanage the taxpayers’ money. It’s too bad there isn’t a law against mismanagement! Maybe the city of Gilroy should “start writing checks!”

Next time the Council will pay more attention to the taxpayers instead of trying to make a name for themselves.
