LaVerne Roberta Town died at the Natividad Medical Center on
Dec. 27, after a brief period of illness. She was 81 years old.
LaVerne Roberta Town died at the Natividad Medical Center on Dec. 27, after a brief period of illness. She was 81 years old.

Mrs. Town was born on Oct. 7, 1922, in Redding, but lived in Salinas most of her life. She was a food preparer at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital for 10 years. Mrs. Town enjoyed craftwork and loved being a caregiver for young children.

Mrs. Town was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Arthur Town on Jan. 11, 1978. She is survived by her son Charlie Town, of Gilroy, her daughter Gay and husband Robert VanRenselaar, of Salinas, four grandchildren: Kelly Signorotti, Kyle Town, Kristopher Town and Korey Town, and seven great-grandchildren: Brandon Signorotti, Meghan Signorotti, Stephanie Signorotti, Amanda Signorotti, Kendall Town, Bailey Town and Garrett Town.

Private Crypt Side Service were held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, located at 1820 Damien Way in Salinas. The family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1184 Monroe St., Suite 1, Salinas, CA 93906.
