San Martin – The second annual “Happy Days” Custom and Classic Car Show is refurbished and ready for crowds on Saturday.

The public can expect to see about 100 classic and street rod cars at the event, designed to benefit the San Martin Neighborhood Alliance’s efforts to incorporate the area into an independent city.

A few changes were made this year to make the fundraiser even more successful. The event will be held from 11am to 6 pm to avoid problems with lighting the park after dark. They have also hired JJ Hawg Band, a blues and blues rock band, to perform from 2 to

6 pm. Live music will draw more crowds and encourage them to stay for longer than a DJ said Dick Smith, vehicle and music director for the event.

He expects up to 2,000 people to stop by the San Martin Country Park to enjoy the cars, food and live entertainment.

“Because of the popularity of car shows they draw a lot of people,” Smith said. He hopes the event will net a profit of $5,000 to $10,000.”

As car lovers admire the classic beauties, they will be able to vote for the people’s choice awards.

A few local restaurants will sell food from booths at the event, including Happy Dog Pizza and San Martin Meats. Beer and wine will be available.

San Martin Country Park is located on Monterey Road south of the Christmas Tree Farm. Admission is $5 per person.
