Gilroy Fire Capt. Joshua Valverde looks over the scene of a vehicle accident on northbound U.S. Highway 101 north of Highway 25 shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday. A Volvo S70 sedan driven by 61-year-old Irene Olivares, of Hollister, struck a tractor-trailer. She told California Highway Patrol officers she was trying to avoid another motorist making an unsafe lane change when she lost control and hit the rig. She was taken by ambulance to Saint Louise Regional Hospital with minor injuries. The 52-year-old driver of the truck, Ramiro Guiterrez, of Gilroy, was uninjured.
