William H. ‘Billy’ England Jr., 46, died on Friday, Aug. 6, in Gilroy.
He was born Sept. 28, 1957, in Kansas City, Kan. He worked as a transfer driver for Granite Construction, formerly with Don Chapin Co. and Keith Day Trucking. He graduated from North Salinas High, class of 1975. He was an avid fisherman. He loved NASCAR and had been a big fan of driver Dale Earnhardt Sr. He also was a San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan. He was a member of Teamsters Local 890.
He was a longtime resident of Salinas until June of 2001 when he moved to Gilroy and lived until the time of his death. Special times included watching his son Billy (the third) race motorcycles and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. England is survived by his loving wife, Glenda England of Gilroy; loving son, Billy and Rebecca England of Salinas; loving daughter, Brooke England of Chico; parents, Donna and Ernie Hammontree of Arkansas; brother, Bob England of Arkansas; sisters Barbara Miller and Brenda Hammontree, both of Arkansas; and Marsha Meyers, of Idaho; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Struve and Laporte Mortuary, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas. Burial will take place at the Hall Cemetery in Arkansas.
