MORGAN HILL – The family of Cynthia Marroquin, the 15-month-old toddler killed in an accident June 29, is in need of help with expenses to bury the child, according to a family friend.

A fund has been set up through St. Catherine Church, and donations may be sent to the church at 17500 Peak Ave., Morgan Hill CA 95037. The church office number is 779-3959. Please include Cynthia’s name with the donation.

Cynthia was killed when she suddenly ran behind a slow-moving car backing out of the family driveway, according to CHP.

Muniz, 34, was driving away from the house at a very slow speed when the child ran out to the car. Muniz did not see her. The auto was a 1991 Mitsubishi Montero pulling an empty car trailer.

An investigation of the accident still is ongoing, but according the police, it was an accident.

”At this point there are no signs of negligence,” CHP Sgt. David Hill said. “It’s a slow-speed tragedy.”

Because of the Fourth of July weekend and holiday, the investigation may take a few more weeks.
