Both Live Oak and San Benito lost in the first round of the CCS
Division I Baseball Playoffs
No. 9 Live Oak manhandled by No. 8 Mitty, 7-1
SAN JOSE – Eric Abbott was the losing pitcher for Live Oak in the Central Coast Section first round.
Mitty scored a run in the third on a sacrifice fly and then scored three in the fourth inning. Live Oak scored its only run in the sixth. Doug Porras singled, and Dave Newton hit a ball up the middle that the shortstop threw away.
Mitty answered back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Live Oak had just four hits in the game.
No. 13 San Benito shut out by No. 4 Leland, 2-0
SAN JOSE – Leland’s Kyle Woodruff pitched the complete game for Leland, striking out eight.
San Benito pitcher Justin Patton didn’t have his best game, but gave up just single runs in the second and third innings. His defense behind him played flawless.
