Klein scores game-winning run with two outs in 16-15 result
GILROY – Don’s Vending outlasted Handmade Healthcare 16-15 Wednesday to create a three-way tie for first place in the Women’s B League at Christmas Hill Park.
Laurie Klein scored on a two-out infield grounder in the bottom of the seventh inning to push Don’s Vending to 2-1. Don’s and Handmade each scored seven runs in the sixth inning to create a 15-15 tie. After Handmade failed to score in the seventh, Klein reached first on a one-out error and advanced to third on a Lydia Cano single.
Cano anchored the Don’s Vending offense with four singles. Kathy Van Hoy plated three Vendor runs with a triple and sacrifice fly. Lisa Sanchez went 4-for-4, Sandy Saenz and Jessica Loza each 4-for-5 for Handmade Healthcare (2-1).
Jenny Szyndrowski went 3-for-3 with three RBI to help 2-1 Williams Dental Lab past Let’s Do This 14-2.
Maureen Hughes collected a double and two singles, scoring three Williams Dental runs. Cherie Somavia went 3-for-4. Suzie Romero went 3-for-3, Lena Keller 2-for-2 for Let’s Do This.
M&M’s rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Dutchman’s Pizza 11-10 in a battle of Women’s C League unbeatens at Las Animas Park.
Singles by Jennifer Post and Laura Hagiperos ignited the M&M’s rally. A two-out single by Joanna Plyman tied the score. Shelly Guerrero gave M&M’s the win with a single to leftfield.
Melissa Hice went 3-for-4 for the 3-0 M&M’s. Kristen Rennard went 4-for-4 and Cheryl Baragone singled and doubled for 2-1 Dutchman’s Pizza.
Lee Ann Blean homered and Tina Dempsey clubbed four hits to spark Chaos to a 23-3 win over Hpnotiqs. Liz Talavera homered and Mari Garcia went 3-for-4 for Hpnotiqs.
Darcy Daniels, Teena Lopez and Donna Martin each singled and scored to lift the Energizers to a 3-2 edging of Eugene Marks Tractor Service.
Monica Perez provided two singles to the Energizer cause. Chrissy Ivory and Anna Cabrera each managed two hits and scored once for Marks Tractor.
Monica Melendrez’ RBI-single in the bottom of the final inning gave Goldsmith Seeds a 17-16 win over Kay’s Kids Daycare. Norma Wendt and Melendrez each stroked three Seeds hits. Alicia Hernandez hit a single, double and triple for Goldsmith Seeds.
