Mr. Santos was born and raised in Gilroy. After graduating from Gilroy High Schools he attended West Valley Community College in Coalinga. He most recently owned and operated R&M Santos Excavation with his father. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Gilroy. Mark enjoyed mountain biking, BMX, hot rods and remote control cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and son.

He is survived by his son, Mark J. Santos; parents, Roger and Kathy Santos; sister, Leanne Santos and her husband Leon Haygood; and grandmothers, Nancy Ciacco and Alice Santos all of Gilroy. Mark is the nephew of Alfred Ciacco, Jim and his wife Pauline Lemberger and Dorothy Chiesa all of Gilroy, Charlie and his wife Betty Elder of Cupertino and Farrel Martin of Hollister. He is the great-nephew of Walter ”Buzz” Walsh and uncle of Beau and Timmy Haygood all of Gilroy; and many cousins, aunts & uncles.

Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents Elmer and Flora Santos and Frank Ciacco and his great aunt Margaret Walsh.

Visitation will begin at noon, Thursday, April 14, 2004, at Habing Family Funeral Home. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home then to St. Mary Catholic Parish to celebrate the funeral Mass at 2 p.m.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy. A trust for his son has been established at the South Valley National Bank in Gilroy.
