Dear Editor:

Gilroy High School is ready to launch into phase II of our modernization and bond construction projects. This summer the high school will be closed as crews work diligently to see that we are ready to reopen in time for school on Aug. 30. There will be an informational meeting, to answer questions and concerns, in the GHS library on Tuesday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Many exciting projects will begin and/or be completed this summer:

• Resurfacing, striping and widening of the entrance/exit of the student parking lot.

• Complete modernization of the gym, theater and “C” building which includes most of our science labs.

• All new clocks, bells and loudspeakers for every classroom on campus.

• Two new computer labs

• Foundation work for the expansion of the library and bookroom (completion date summer 2005)

• Foundation work for the new cafeteria, student services offices, (completion fall 2005)

With the work comes change. Where will the library and student services be located during construction? How will construction for the cafeteria and library and school coincide during the next school year?

These and other questions will be answered and addressed at the community meeting.
