Knuckleheads Remain One Game Ahead of Loco Boys; Pacific Coast
Bail Bonds Earn Playoff Berth
Gilroy – ABLC pulled off two upsets Thursday to earn the Men’s Winter DDD League Playoff title at Christmas Hill Park.
Regular-season champion Trevino Brothers Construction dropped a 4-3 decision to the Brotha’s in Thursday’s opener. Emiliano Mendez went 3-for-3 with one RBI as the Brotha’s rebounded from a 1-7 regular season to upend the 6-2 Builders.
ABLC, the third seed, opened play with a 23-15 nod over second-seed Whiplash. Paul Gutierrez and Eddie Castaneda each went 4-for-5 for the winners. Johnny Yuenna homered in a 3-for-3 night for Whiplash.
ABLC added a 15-14 win over the Brotha’s to claim the playoff title trophy. Sonny Stagi went 3-for-4 and Dave Lira homered and doubled for ABLC. Byron Kallberg went 3-for-4 for the Brotha’s.
ABLC will face Trevino Brothers Construction at 6:30pm Tuesday Nov. 1 at Christmas Hill for the championship t-shirts.
The Knuckleheads topped Western Recycling 24-15 to remain one game ahead of the Loco Boys in the Men’s Winter E League standings Wednesday at Las Animas Park.
Phil Tercero and Tim Adams hit consecutive home runs for the 7-0-1 Knuckleheads. Chino Macias and Frank Crue each poked four hits for Western Recycling.
The Loco Boys reached 6-1 with a 34-13 decision over NorCal Tires. Jimmy Castaneda Sr. went with a home run, Kurtis Salter laced four doubles and Daniel Fellows went 4-for-4 with a homer for the Loco Boys. Rudy Maquinalez went 3-for-4 for NorCal Tires.
The Slammers outlasted Dan Keith Septics 15-12 Wednesday at Christmas Hill to remain atop the Men’s Winter DD standings with a 5-2 mark. Three clubs trail at 5-3.
Noe DeLaTorre crushed a double and two singles to spark the Slammers. Danny Rubalcava went 3-for-3 with a homer and Tom Luther added a single, double and triple to the Dan Keith Septics offense.
Cosa Nostra defeated Slapped Together to leave both clubs at 5-3. Isaiah Gonzalez (4-for-4) hit a grand slam and Jose Serrano and Juan Arias each posted four hits for Cosa Nostra. Dave Hamilton went 4-for-5 for Slapped Together.
Pacific Coast Bail Bonds earned a playoff berth at 5-3 with a 22-7 victory over Team Hair FX. Joel Gaeta hit three homers for the Bondsmen, Keith Francis two doubles for Team Hair FX.
