The Gilroy Police Department made arrests for a variety of crimes this past week, including rape by force or violence, grand theft, assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence. All arrests were recorded in the GPD blotter between Nov. 23 and 30. All suspects remain innocent until proven guilty, and an appearance in the arrest log does not signify guilt for the listed crime/s.
Battery
-William Ashford, 28, Nov. 22 at 5:16 p.m. on the 9200 block of Severence Street for battery on a former spouse, fiancé or cohabitant.
-Modesto Rubio, 39, Nov. 23 at 8:13 p.m. on the 500 block of W. 10th Street for battery against a spouse, cohabitant or friend.
Domestic violence
-Jose Torres, 36, Nov. 23 at 1:45 p.m. on the 7400 block of Rogers Lane for felony infliction of bodily injury on a spouse or cohabitant, felony threats to commit a crime resulting in injury or death and felony re-arrest for probation violation.
-Hilario Ortiz, 28, Nov. 24 at 9:30 p.m. on the 600 block of E. Seventh Street for one felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon or grievous bodily injury, felony infliction of bodily injury on a spouse or cohabitant, felony violation of a protective order with priors and obstructing the use of a phone to contact emergency services.
-Cesar Resendiz, 20, Nov. 27 at 12:20 p.m. on the 9000 block of Kern Avenue for felony infliction of bodily injury on a spouse or cohabitant, violation of a court order to prevent domestic violence and felony re-arrest for probation violation.
Driving under the influence
-Kit Katich, 51, Nov. 26 at 11:59 p.m. near the intersection of First Street and Wren Avenue for DUI and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher.
-Camilo Ortega, 59, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey and Howson streets for DUI, failing to provide evidence of financial responsibility and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher.
Driving violations
-Gilberto Ruiz Lopez, 25, Nov. 22 at 9:54 p.m. on the 500 block of IOOF Avenue for driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher and driving while unlicensed.
-Damian Arellano, 26, Nov. 25 at 1:20 a.m. near the intersection of Adams Court and Murray Avenue for driving with privileges suspended or revoked.
-Lionel Brooks, 49, Nov. 30 at 4:10 a.m. near the intersection of Day Road and Santa Teresa Boulevard for driving on a suspended license.
Grand theft
-Juan Pablo Duarte, 26, Nov. 28 at 7:55 p.m. on the 8300 block of Arroyo Circle for felony grand theft and giving a false name to police.
-Maria Torres, 40, Nov. 29 at 7:15 a.m. on the 200 block of Lewis Street.
-Shawn Letterman, 21, Nov. 29 at 5:53 p.m. near the crossing of Camino Arroyo and Pacheco Pass.

-Jose Calvillo, 38, Nov. 23 at 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey and Howson streets for a felony charge of DUI causing bodily injury, felony threats to commit a crime resulting in injury or death, felony causing or permitting a child to suffer, hit and run, battery and violation of a protective order.
-Victoria Diaz, 40, Nov. 30 at 6:21 p.m. on the 8200 block of Murray Avenue for felony sale or aiding in the sale of stolen property, battery and driving on a suspended license.
Petty theft
-Steven Nava, 18, Nov. 26 at 1:51 p.m. near the intersection of Sixth and Eigleberry streets for one misdemeanor charge and possession of a switchblade knife.
Possession of a controlled substance
-Linda Zabala, 29, Nov. 25 at 1:30 a.m. on the 300 block of Leavesley Road for one misdemeanor charge, use or being under the influence of a controlled substance and petty theft of personal property.
-Josefina Angel, 39, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. near the intersection of Church Street and Welburn Avenue.
Possession of a hypodermic needle
-Alondra Trujillo, 22, Nov. 27 at 9:16 p.m. on the 700 block of First Street for one misdemeanor charge and resisting, delaying or obstructing police.

-Roy Lopez, Nov. 27 at 2:43 p.m. near the intersection of Gaunt and Swanner avenues for felony rape by force, violence or duress.
