MORGAN HILL—San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture wants to help bring Sierra LaMar home.
Couture has followed the case since the Morgan Hill teenager disappeared in March, 2012 and has organized an autograph signing to help raise funds for the ongoing search. He, along with teammates Tomas Hertl, Alex Stalock, Jason Demers, James Sheppard and Andrew Desjardins, will sign autographs from 7-8:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Britton Middle School, 80 West Central Ave. in Morgan Hill.
“We just don’t want it, her story, to be forgotten,” Couture told the Dispatch. “We want to do whatever we can as an organization to help bring her home.”
The Sharks’ forward and Director of Media Relations, Scott Emmert, contacted the LaMars over the summer looking for ways to help. They discovered that funds are needed to aid the volunteers who continue to scour the Morgan Hill area every Saturday with hopes of finding LaMar.
“I think the reason this is so close (to our hearts) for a lot of us on the team is because it’s in the area and it’s such a sad story for what’s happened and what her family has gone through,” Couture said. “We’re just trying to help bring awareness—bring people out to the search, raise money or anything we can do.”
Fans can receive one autograph from each player on any item they chose in exchange for a $20 cash-only donation. All funds raised will be donated to the search efforts.
Volunteers—must be 18 and older—are needed for the search efforts and can join by meeting at 8 a.m. every Saturday at “Old” Central High School, 17960 Monterey Road, Morgan Hill.
