schedule Thursday with a tight 14-10 home loss to Santa
Catalina.
GILROY – The Gilroy High girls water polo team concluded its league schedule Thursday with a tight 14-10 home loss to Santa Catalina.
The Lady Mustangs started off strong – leading 1-0 on a Lauryn Rossi strike off a feed from teammate Danell Dow. In the second quarter, Gilroy was outscored 7-3 with all three Lady Mustang goals coming from Dow. The assists were by Rosanna Rosso (two) and Diana Wallace (one) as the half ended with the hosts down 7-4.
In the third quarter, Dow and Rossi each found the back of the net off feeds from Rosso. The Lady Mustangs came on strong in the final quarter with Dow netting three more goals, two unassisted form the seven meter, and Rossi had one assisted by Wallace.
Following the game, the Gilroy seniors – Dow, Rosso and Wallace – were honored by their teammates with flowers and cookies.
