Dorothy E. Strickland, a Gilroy native, passed away suddenly and
peacefully Monday, Nov. 11, 2002 at the age of 81 years.
Dorothy E. Strickland, a Gilroy native, passed away suddenly and peacefully Monday, Nov. 11, 2002 at the age of 81 years.

She was the mother of Patricia and her husband, Eldon Lee of Hesperia, Jim Strickland and his wife Ann of Hollister and the late Dave Strickland (1993); loving grandmother of Tom Strickland and Robert and his wife Ana Strickland both of Gilroy; great-grandmother of Chanele and Ingrid Strickland of Gilroy. She is survived by her cousins, the Goold family in the Gilroy area, by many friends including Helen and Brian Holman of Arizona, and Brad, Lisa, David and Justin Strawhorn of Gilroy.

She graduated from Gilroy High School and San Jose State University where she received her master’s degree in education. She taught in just about every elementary school in Gilroy and retired in 1980s. Dorothy was a member, an organist and active in the Altar Guild of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Gilroy. She was a past member of the Gilroy Soroptimist Club and the Dorcas Organization. She also taught private piano lessons. She was a patron of the Gilroy library and was an avid reader. Dorothy was well loved and will be missed.

Memorial Services Saturday, Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Gilroy under direction of Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
