League opener Wednesday at Gavilan Sports Park.
GILROY – The Desperados erupted for five runs in the bottom of the sevcnth inning to upset Machinist Cooperative 11-10 in the Men’s D League opener Wednesday at Gavilan Sports Park.
The top three batters in the Machinist Cooperative order combined for eight hits and eight runs in building a 10-4 lead by the sixth inning.
Shawn Henning hit a two-run home run, Gosta Brolin clubbed two two-run singles and Robert Muro went 2-for-3 and scored three Machinist runs.
A Ron Erskine RBI-single helped the Desperados score twice in the sixth inninng to trail 10-6. The Desperados added seven singles in the seventh, including a run-scoring single by Erskine to complete the comeback. Erskine and Jason Thomas each collected four hits for the winners.
Al Rivera launched two home runs and Kenny Hopf and Danny DeLeon added homers as the Playaz defeated Dirty Dozen 18-3. Ben Naranjo went 3-for-3 for Dirty Dozen.
Dutchman’s Pizza opened the Women’s C League season with a 25-11 win over Chaos Wednesday at Christmas Hill Park.
Jeanie Ramos and Dora Olivares each lined a double and three singles for Dutchman’s Pizza. Stephanie Johnston collected four singles and scored four Pizza runs.
Melanie Fajardo hit a single, double and triples for Chaos, with Lucy Solorzano good for four singles.
Cindy Ruiz and Cat Corrales each powered three hits to lead Kay’s Kids to a 14-0 nod over Day and Night Towing Sportsters. Sophia Gause went 2-for-3 for the Sportsters.
Goldsmith Seeds scored nine runs in the first inning and topped Don’s Vending 14-5 at Las Animas Park.
Esmeralda Hernandez went 2-for-2 and scored three Seeds runs. Gina Smith provided two Seed doubles. Liz Adams and Jessica Alvarez each went 3-for-3 for Don’s Vending.
Lacy Juarez hit a home run, triple and two singles to propel Let’s Do This past the Energizers 19-12. Suzanne Fox, Jessica Gomemz and Cynthia Garza managed four hits each for the winners. Denise Chavez stroked a double and two singles for the Energizers.
