Victor G. Cembellin, Sr.

Resident of Hayward, Ca.

A retired U.S. Postal Carrier died December 4th at the age of 86. Victor was born March 3, 1922 in San Juan Baptista and grew up in nearby Hollister, CA. During WWII he was a baker in the U.S. Navy and performed those duties overseas aboard the USS Saratoga and various island-hopping operations in the Pacific.

After the War, he continued to work as a baker in Hayward. And some years later he worked for the Alameda County roads department, and ultimately went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, where he spent his entire career at the Hayward Branch. He also had a gardening business on the side. Gardening was his passion in life.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Frances M. (Olivero) Cembellin, who was a native of Hayward.

He is survived by his son Victor G. Cembellin, Jr. of Manteca; daughter Norma Murphy and son-in-law Andrew Murphy of Raleigh, North Carolina; granddaughter Deborah Cembellin of Concord; grandson Douglas Cembellin of Emeryville; grandson Victor G. Cembellin, III of Alameda; sister Marty Losada of Los Gatos; brother Frank Cembellin and sister-in-law Gladys Cembellin of Brookings, Oregon; brother Larry Cembellin and sister-in-law Joanna Cembellin of Monte Sereno; sister Dorothy Lemons of Hollister; and sister Natalie Cobb of Modesto.

At the request of Mr. Cembellin, there will be no funeral services. The family can never repay the love and kindness given our father by the caring staff of St. Regis Retirement Center in Hayward. Victor requested that memorial donations be made to your favorite charity.
