We take a look at the stories that are coming to the web and in
the paper. This week: the council discusses possible layoffs at
City Hall and we talk to Gilroy High School teacher Darren Yafai
about the success of a documentary-making history project he
spearheaded.
1. Layoffs at city hall?

We follow the council’s discussion of cost-cutting measures at City Hall, which could include laying off employees. Long time city employees say the layoffs would be the first job cuts they’ve seen during their careers.

2. Stories of Stories of Service

Gilroy High School teacher Darren Yafai’s Stories of Service history project has become a story beyond Gilroy. Yafai will be going to the New York City Veterans Day parade and will train teachers and students on the documentary techniques he and his student used to make dozens of shorts about local veterans.
