Cruz Avila aged 91 years passed away in Guadalajara, Mexico while on vacation visiting family members.
Cruz was a native of Tepechitlan, Zacatecas, Mexico and came to California as a young man to work permanently in the agricultural industry. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He was the husband of the late Rosario Avila who passed away in July of 1993.
Surviving are his children Felix Avila of Fresno; Graciela and Ruben Avila of Los Angeles; Tony, Rodrigo (Rod) and Alexandria Avila of Hollister; 14 grandchildren; 2 brothers living in Mexico; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be today (Tues) at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home Chapel from
6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the rosary beginning at 7:00 P.M.
Family and friends will leave the mortuary Wednesday morning at 9:30 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
