The two South County residents who serve on the Santa Clara Valley Water District seven-member board of directors were elected as chair and vice chair, an official said.
Morgan Hill resident Rosemary Kamei, who represents District 1, was elected chair and Sig Sanchez, a Gilroy resident and director at large, was elected vice chair, said Susan Siravo, the district’s spokeswoman.
Directors are elected to the positions at the board’s first meeting each January.
It is the third time Kamei will serve as chair of the district, which is undergoing transition with longtime chief executive and general manager Stan Williams retiring this month. Olga Martin-Steele is serving as an interim replacement for Williams for up to six months, as district directors conduct a search for a permanent CEO.
