Thomas Allen Berghoff, age 69, went home to the Lord at his home in Morgan Hill, CA, July 2, 2008 after a valiant eight year battle with cancer. His family was at his side. Born in Fort Wayne, IN. Tom was the son of Paul L. and Ethel M. Berghoff.
Tom obtained a mechanical engineering degree at Indiana Technical College amd a Masters Degree in Business at the University of Santa Clara in 1967. Tom’s career was focused in engineering and management. After retiring from IBM in 1990 he worked independently until 2000. He was an active member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America, and many other community endeavors. Tom enjoyed his family, church, community, and travel. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tom is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth, son Tom and daughter-in-law Julie, granddaughter, Sara, of Boulder, CO; daughter Jennifer, and son-in-law Paul, granddaughters Lauren, Audra, Catherine, of Columbia, MO; sister Susan Prowant, brothers Michael (Jan) and Herman (Patricia) of Fort Wayne, IN and Paula Martin (Ernst) of Hughsonville, N.Y. A memorial mass clelbrating Tom’s life will be celebrated on Thursday July 10th, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine Church in Morgan Hill where he was an active member for over 35 years.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Tom’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
