to her home on Monterey Road near Christopher High School even
though her home is just three miles away.

When asked by Red Phone, a store manager said to call back the following morning and talk to a driver who was more familiar with the delivery area. When Red Phone called back, an employee mentioned the northern boundary cutoff was on Day Road.
Red also called the corporate office to get their response. A spokesman said they would be willing to make an exception in this case and deliver to the address mentioned. He mentioned there could be an issue of safety for the driver delivering at night on the rural road, but neither the corporate nor local office knew the reason for sure.
After the response ran Jan. 21 in the Red Phone, Andrew Bollinger – a manager and driver who has been at Straw Hat for 13 years – said the correct boundaries for delivery of pizza are Church Avenue on the north, Whitehurst Road in the west, the intersection of Highway 25 and 152 in the south and the 4500 block of Roop Road in the east. Owner Nemat Dadrass verified the delivery service area.
“We will go past these boundaries for a big enough order,” Bollinger said. “Last summer, we delivered a $300 order to Earthbound Farm in San Juan Bautista, which is approximately 17 miles each way. We have also delivered to CordeValle in the past and deliver routinely to Jason-Stephens Winery on Watsonville Road. We also have a semiregular customer approximately a fourth of a mile past Jason-Stephens Winery and used to have regular customers a mile up Redwood Retreat Road.”
