Richard D. Falconi passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 5th, 2011, at the age of 84.
Richard served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a long-time rancher on Santa Ana Road until his retirement and an artist in grafting trees in San Benito County and the surrounding areas.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed golfing at Ridgemark. Richard had many hobbies but working with wood to create windmills and rocking horses for the children of his family and friends gave him great joy.
His loving gifts are sprinkled all over California and abroad. He was also known as the Biscotti man, often starting his baking at 6:00 A.M. to make a batch (or two) to give away to his eager fans. His Biscotti are famous in San Benito County and from Los Angeles (in particular at the University of Southern California) to Olympia, Washington.
He was a 57-year member of the Hollister Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silvio and Adele Falconi, his sister, Sylvia Falconi and his brother, Eddie Falconi. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marian Lomanto Falconi and his brother, Louie Falconi. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins from Hollister, Italy and the Netherlands. He also will be remembered by his caregiver, David Majcher.
Friends can pay their respects on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 11, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Church. A reception will follow the Mass at Paine’s Restaurant. Friends are invited to the Mass and the reception.
Entombment will be private at Calvary Cemetery.
