Mustangs selected as No. 2 seed for CCS playoffs.
Extending its unbeaten streak to 13 games, the Gilroy High girls soccer team ousted host Salinas High 4-0 on Friday to claim the Tri-County Athletic League championship – the progam’s fifth straight.
Three goals in the first 18 minutes of the first half put the game out of reach long before halftime.
Indra Garcia scored on a corner kick to get the Mustangs (14-2-4, 11-0-1 TCAL) off on the right foot. Savannah Silacci was credited with the contest’s second tally after her cross deflected in off of a Salinas defender. Taylor Slattery followed with the third goal of the half, her league-leading 20th of the season. Cynthia Sanchez registered her 15th on the year, converting a penalty kick in the second half.
