HOLLISTER — San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister announced Wednesday it will host the West Coast Conference Golf Championships for both the men’s and women’s divisions this spring.

Practice rounds will be held Sunday, April 17, while competitive rounds begin Monday, April 18 and end on Tuesday, April 19.

The West Coast Conference is made up of eight member schools, including Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary’s, University of San Diego, University of San Francisco and Santa Clara, with each school represented by a men’s golf team.

As for the women’s golf teams, six universities are represented, including Pepperdine, USF, Santa Clara, Gonzaga, Portland and Seattle University, which is an affiliate member of the WCC for this season.

Each team consists of five players.

Last season, the Pepperdine women’s golf team was ranked ninth in the nation and No. 1 in the WCC behind Player of the Year Danielle Kang, while the Pepperdine men’s team also earned the WCC Championship trophy a year ago as well.

Santa Clara’s Scott Travers earned Player of the Year honors in the WCC last season, and also won the California State Amateur Championship in San Diego.

San Juan Oaks expects the event to bring visitors from all over the West Coast to enjoy the tournament and the surrounding areas.
