Manuel Garibaldi

Manuel Garibaldi passed away peacefully on Tuesday, surrounded by his loving family, after a 3-year valiant battle with cancer.

Manuel was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and immigrated to the United States when he was a teenager. Following his career as a prize-winning semi-professional boxer, Manuel enlisted in the United States Army during World War II and proudly served in the 36th Division, and was stationed in Japan. He always considered his service in the military one of the best times of his life.

Manuel later enjoyed a 30-year career at Ford Motor company where his ingenuity was well regarded. After retiring, Manuel spent his time working on his beloved ranch and took up woodworking.

Manuel is survived by his loving children Manuel Garibaldi, Jr. (Jo Marie) of Palmdale, Diane Garibaldi of San Jose, Lori Gomez (Joe) of Modesto, Lawrence Garibaldi (Denise) of Gilroy, Liza Garibaldi (David) of San Jose, and Patricia Niccum (Tom), his 18 grandchildren and his seven great-grandchildren.

His loving, playful spirit will be missed by all his family and friends.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Monday, March 28 from 5:00-9:00 P.M. with a vigil service at 6:30 P.M., both at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey St., Morgan Hill, CA. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, March 29 at 10:00 A.M., at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 17400 Peak Ave., Morgan Hill, CA. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, CA.
