Floyd was born in Tontitown, AR to Albano and Agnes (Pierce) Maestri.
He was the eldest of nine children. He served his country from Feb. 1941 to July 1945 in the South Pacific. Before and after the war Floyd worked for Filice and Perrilli Canning Co./California Canners and Growers for 40 plus years.
He married Laura Furtado in 1947 they had one son, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Laura; sister, Grace, Genny; brother, Paul. He was survived by his son Jim (Rosanna); granddaughters Regina (Brian), Rhonda (Shawn), Rosalyn (MaryEllen); grandson Jim (Sherry); great-grandchildren Jonathan (Kayla), Zachary (Danialle), Laura, Jacob, Max and Grady; brothers Steve, Frank and Leslie; sisters Lavina and Mary Frances; sisters-in-law Madeline and Helen. He was Uncle Floyd to 56 nieces and nephews; godchildren Paul Duplesie, Donna Piedmont, Richard Furtado, David Scales and Lloyd Fiori.
A special thank you to his care givers, Roz Maestri, Theresa Valdivia, Nancy Garner, Mary Benitez, Rita and Jess Garcia, and the Veteran’s Hospice in Palo Alto and Rhonda and Jimmy for their strength.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at 1:30 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 4th St., Gilroy.
