Cougars avenge earlier loss to Seaside.
On Jan. 11, the Christopher High girls soccer team secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Monte Vista Christian.

Since then, however, the Cougars have dropped three straight Monterey Bay League games. On the bright side, all have been one-goal defeats.

On Thursday, head coach Janae Pimentel led the Cougars into a rematch with Seaside, a squad that beat CHS 3-1 in the league opener Jan. 4.

“The girls really wanted to win and came together as a team,” Pimentel said.

That conviction and camaraderie, plus a completely healthy roster for the first time this season, came through in a 2-1 victory over the Spartans in Seaside.

“We finally had the intensity and determination to win,” Pimentel said.

Cailin McCarry gave the Cougars a 1-0 and Anita Lopez added a crucial goal in the second half.

The Cougars have a week off before hitting the road for Monte Vista Christian on Thursday before two consecutive home tilts Feb. 8 and Feb. 10.
