I also can’t find an article regarding the Gav/Hartnell game in
the online edition, including searching the site, checking the
headlines section, or the October sports archives. I don’t have
access to a printed newspaper since I’m out of town so I rely on
the web site for news updates.
CALLER 1: I also can’t find an article regarding the Gav/Hartnell game in the online edition, including searching the site, checking the headlines section, or the October sports archives. I don’t have access to a printed newspaper since I’m out of town so I rely on the web site for news updates.
I think you guys screwed up, even if you did print the story (in a different part of the paper than normal?) … If readers can’t find it even when looking for it, it seems that you could have done a better job. And to not have the article online or indexed is another error.
I think you owe Green Phone caller an apology, and maybe your smug sounding tone in your response could be avoided in the future.
GREEN PHONE:
Dear What About On-line, Eh?
You are tenacious for your Gavilan football coverage and Green Phone can appreciate that. There was an error made in not putting the article (“Rams Run Past Hartnell,” Oct. 2) on the web site. That error has been corrected and you will now be able to find the recap of the win over Hartnell by clicking on the sports tab of www.gilroydispatch.com.
As for being smug, Green Phone apologizes if it came off as rude. But, because GP is an inanimate object, it has no emotional filter and shouldn’t be ridiculed for being tone-deaf. Would you call your computer smug when it tells you there was an error made, or when the microwave overcooks a dish?
A suggestion for the future would be to NEVER leave Gilroy. Ever. That way you will always be able to pick up a copy of the paper in print.
Another idea to consider – GP would only be allowed to answer “yes” or “no” to all questions, complaints or praise.
Happy?
