– Two liquor stores were robbed at gunpoint Thursday evening, the latest of several other robberies police suspect were committed by the same man.

A man wearing a black ski mask, black gloves, and holding a semi-automatic pistol entered J-V Liquor, 420 First St., at 7:22pm. He demanded money from the employee and got away with $275, police said. A second suspect, who could have been driving a getaway car, may have been involved.

Thirteen minutes later, a Hispanic man, about 30 years old, 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds, entered Gilroy Market, 401 E. Tenth St., wearing a black ski mask and black leather gloves and holding a gun. He again demanded cash from the register, and when the cashier resisted, the suspect hit the man on the left side of his head with the gun. The suspect stole $1,000 from the store.

The suspect could be the same man who robbed a Gilroy restaurant, liquor store and cigarette store in the past month.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents may contact Gilroy police at 846-0350.
